Most managers are not trained to manage people - especially in difficult situations. Which is odd, given that people are an organisation's most valuable resource.
This course provides a unique opportunity to learn the theory and practice of conflict and mediation. It is ideal for departmental managers who want to know how to nip conflict in the bud.
Through discussion, interactive learning and practice, the participants cover the effects of conflict on individuals and organisations, learn and practice the communication and negotiation skills of a mediator, see how to identify people's real interests and develop ideas on how mediation might play a role in their organisation.
It is also the first 2 days of the 6 day Accredited Mediators course, so if they show real aptitude and interest, some could go on to complete their training without starting from scratch.
